Great post, and very interesting to read your thoughts on chronic pain. I truly believe it's possible to treat and even cure the disease chronic pain, and that as you say, the cure is within ourselves.
It's taken me many years to find my way out of the chronic pain nightmare, and it required a fearless expedition into the unknown, uncharted and often perilous territories of mind-body-medicine and implementing a whole range of lifestyle changes. I had to change doctors twice to find one that supported me in my pursuits to find other solutions than just pain medication and physiotherapy, and the cure has been surprisingly "close". I've had to work on changing my own thinking and my emotional reactions most of all, and gradually rebuild myself by retraining my thought processes, emotions, breathing patterns, eating & sleeping habits, change work, gradually alter from friendships and personal relationships, change my living situation.... basically everything.
But today I have a life I never would have thought was possible 5 years ago :) Hardly any limitations because of pain, even with complex spinal fracture operated 3 times, whiplash and RA in my medical history!
Look forward to following your blog:)
